Huawei Watch 5 Review: A Comprehensive Look at the Latest Huawei Smartwatch

Opinion Swiss Made Watch

After several weeks with the Huawei Watch 5 on my wrist, I understand better why it is so talked about. The first thing that struck me was its design.

It looks more like a real high-end watch than a simple connected gadget. The screen is superb, very bright, and remains perfectly readable even outdoors.

What I use the most on a daily basis are clearly the health functions. Heart rate, sleep, blood oxygen, ECG… everything is grouped together in an application that is quite pleasant to consult. I admit I was a little skeptical at first regarding the famous X-Tap sensor, but ultimately it allows you to quickly obtain several measurements without complicating your life.

Autonomy is a more nuanced topic. At home, with notifications activated and a few sports sessions per week, I work around 4 days. It’s not catastrophic, far from it, but those who hope to last a full week will undoubtedly have to activate certain energy saving modes.

I also noticed some limitations. If you use Google services a lot or some specific apps, everything is not as simple as with an Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch. NFC payments, eSIM or certain functions depend greatly on the smartphone and operator used.

This is something to check before purchasing.

Despite these few flaws, the Huawei Watch 5 remains one of the connected watches that have convinced me the most in recent years. It is beautiful, fluid, pleasant to wear and particularly strong on health monitoring. For someone looking for a premium watch geared towards well-being and daily use, it clearly deserves its place among the references of the moment.
