What are the secure solutions for sending watches?

You don’t have time to put down your watch or you don’t live in the Paris region?

The Hometime team travels to your home or workplace to collect watches. This service is free and covers the inner suburbs of Paris. For all requests outside the Paris region, Hometime uses secure solutions for sending watches. A special kit has been put in place to facilitate and secure the shipment of watches as much as possible.

Sending a kit and returning a watch

For the sending of watches to the workshop, Hometime provides a sending kit comprising a watch box, an order form, as well as a declared value envelope which allows the sending to be sealed. A leaflet is provided explaining how to prepare the package. The shipping costs are around 40€ round trip.

Sending watches with declared value remains one of the safest methods.

Insurances & guarantees

When returning the kit, the maximum amount of declared value allowed by post is €5,000. For a watch whose value exceeds this amount, it is possible to go through Hometime’s AXA insurance. Once deposited at the post office, the “declared value” envelopes travel via a dedicated circuit operated by sworn agents of La Poste and are kept between two journeys in safes provided for this purpose. When the parcel arrives at the office of destination, the agents can only hand it over to an authorized representative of the company and on presentation of supporting documents (company Kbis + identity document).

Condition of the watch upon receipt

Upon receipt of the watch, the Hometime team draws up a condition sheet and takes various photos which are then communicated to the owner of the watch. Then, the Hometime watchmakers examine the watch in order to draw up a maintenance estimate. This is then sent to the customer within 48 hours.

How it works to send a watch from abroad for repair.

The operation is different for foreign customers because shipments of “declared value” watches are reserved for shipments to France only. There are different ways to send a watch via approved carriers, but the shipping costs can be relatively high. In this case, the most appropriate solution should be determined on a case-by-case basis, depending in particular on the customer’s place of residence.
