We continue our review of the Watches & Wonders 2023 show with TAG Heuer. The brand from La Chaux-de-Fonds has offered us some very nice new products: chronographs or divers, simple movements or whirlwindsteel, gold or even synthetic diamonds… There will be something for everyone.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph
There Carrera collection celebrates its 60th anniversary and this is the perfect opportunity to breathe some new blood into it. Let’s start with the star of the show: the Carrera Chronograph. A iconic watchone of the pillars of the catalog, as it combines the brand’s two great passions: chronographs and the car race. TAG Heuer has therefore unveiled 4 new versions of the Carrera Chronograph, in 39 and 42mm in diameter. These chronographs are characterized by a configuration with 3 counters with date, surmounted by a domed sapphire crystal glass box“, which gives an incredible charm to these sporty pieces, as well as a striking effect of depth. On the mechanical side, the 39mm models are powered by the brand new caliber TH20-00 : an automatic column-wheel chronograph movement, delivering a trifle of 80 hours of power reserve. The 42mm models house the indestructible Heuer 02 caliber. And for the colors, there is an entirely blue dial for the 39mm, completed by an inverted panda (with a surprising date at 12 o’clock), as well as blue and anthracite dials circled in orange for the 42mm versions.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date
Still in the Carrera collection, we continue with the models Carrera Datewhich are now available in 36mm In 4 new colors : pink, blue, green and silver. TAG Heuer is therefore following the trend: after Rolex, Omega, or even Sinn, the La-Chaux-de-Fonds house offers a whole range of colors for simple watches, to add a touch of fun and originality. These 4 new models are animated by the 7 gaugean automatic movement that offers a power reserve of 56 hours.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon
We end the review of the Carrera collection with an exceptional model: the Chronograph Tourbillon. Based on the new 42mm chronograph model in its blue livery encircled in orange, this version is obviously distinguished by its movement: the Heuer 02 Tourbillon caliber self-winding, clocked at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivering 65 hours of power reserve. A piece that proves TAG Heuer’s watchmaking expertise, for those who tend to forget it.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200
We now move into the category of divers with theAquaracer. This year, the Aquaracer is gentrifying and playing the card of precious metals. There are therefore 4 new versions: 2 models with bezel and crown in yellow or pink gold, and 2 models entirely in yellow or pink gold. Each time, they are accompanied by a rubber strap, to keep a sporty style and counterbalance the somewhat showy side of gold. For the rest, these 4 new Aquaracers keep the same technical specifications, namely reasonable dimensions (40mm in diameter), a 200m water resistance. The steel/gold models are equipped with the caliber Heuer 05while all-gold models benefit from the all-new caliber TH31-00 and its 80-hour power reserve.
TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Gulf
TAG Heuer’s passion for motor racing is well known, and this collaboration proves it once again. TAG Heuer has once again partnered with the formula 1 championship and to gulfto unveil this chronograph in the emblematic colors of the oil company: blue and orange. An ultra-sporty chrono, equipped with a quartz movement : a choice probably less noble than a mechanical movement, but which allows to keep a very attractive price of 2,400€.
TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde
We end this review with a unique piece: the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Avant-Garde Diamonds. A breathtaking technical demonstration, both for the materials used and for the movement. This exceptional watch follows on from the Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph, presented at Watches & Wonders 2022. The 43mm case and its strap are made from a unique assembly of ultra-light black aluminum and synthetic diamonds, manufactured in the laboratory, and baptized Diamants d’Avant-Garde. And to bring this little marvel to life, TAG Heuer has relied on the flagship of its movements, the caliber Manufacture Heuer 02 Tourbillon Nanographwith its exclusive Isograph carbon nanotube spring system.
