Two budget-friendly smartwatches, Active and Active Edge, introduced by Amazfit

Despite its name, Amazfit has nothing to do with Amazon, except that some of its products can be purchased through the US retailer. Owned by Chinese company Zepp Health, the Amazfit brand is very popular in emerging markets like India.

However, almost all news smartwatches and all the new fitness trackers launched by the company are available outside its country of origin, notably in France. THE smartwatches Amazfit are a cheaper alternative to similar products from established brands like Apple, Samsung and even Garmin.

Of course, there are downsides to choosing a smartwatch Amazfit rather than any of the brands mentioned above, so it highly depends on what you’re willing to compromise to pay less for a smartwatch. At any rate, Amazfit recently launched two new smartwatches, Active and Active Edge, which are now available for purchase on Amazon. They look very different, but their hardware characteristics are similar.

To start, The Amazfit Active looks a lot like an earlier version of the Apple Watch. It has a 1.75-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels and 250 MB internal memory for music files.

There smartwatch Amazfit Active is equipped with a heart rate monitor, as well as blood oxygen, sleep and stress tracking functions. It also comes with built-in GPS and a decent 300mAh battery that promises a battery life of 14 days (GPS off) or 16 hours (GPS on).

The Amazfit Active is available in three colors — Midnight Black, Petal Pink and Lavander Purple, priced at 129.90 euros. It can be purchased now on Amazon.

On the other hand, The Amazfit Active Edge has a much smaller 1.32-inch TFT LCD screen, with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. According to Amazfit, the Active Edge is rated to withstand 10 ATM, meaning you can theoretically dive up to 100 meters and still keep your smartwatch intact.

Just like its big sister, the Amazfit Active Edge is available in three colors – Lava Black, Midnight Pulse and Mint Green – priced at $140 – unfortunately, it is not yet available in France.
