Watchmaking news is definitely very busy at the start of 2023. This time, it is the Swiss company Oris which is offering us two new products: the ProPilot Altimeter, a watch equipped with an (improved) altimeter in addition to a thinner and lighter case, and the ProPilot X Kermit Edition, a variation of the ProPilot X already tested on MrMontre, with a new dial in the colors of Kermit the frog.
Oris ProPilot Altimeter: an even more successful 2023 edition
The 2023 edition of the ProPilot Altimeter is, as its name suggests, a watch intended for watch enthusiasts who practice extreme sports such as hiking, mountaineering or of course piloting planes and who need to know their altitude in real time.
While the previous edition already included an altimeter capable of managing scales up to 15,000 feet or 4,500 meters, the 2023 edition is capable of indicating altitude up to 19,700 feet or 6,000 meters. The ProPilot Altimeter is also always capable ofindicate the time, atmospheric pressure and altitude through a single dial – so entirely mechanical.
Another novelty, the 47 mm diameter case of the ProPilot Altimeter is made of carbon fibers produced by a process developped by 9T Labs, a unit of theuniversity ETH Zurich (School Federal Polytechnic of Zurich). He houses Caliber 793, an automatic movement ultra-thin with a power reserve improved by 56 hours and housed in a 1mm thinner case than the original.

Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition: a partnership with Disney
At the same time, Oris signed a partnership with Disney’s The Muppets to offer a special edition of the ProPilot X in the colors of Kermit the Frog from the Muppet Show.
Everything is said, or almost, the ProPilot X is therefore now available in four dial colors: sandblasted gray, sandblasted blue, salmon and therefore now green to reflect the colors of this famous frog.
Interesting detail, this ProPilot X Kermit Edition also has the particularity of having a date window at 6 o’clock which displays Kermit’s head on the first day of each month. A wink that amuses us a lot.
For the rest, the technical characteristics of all the ProPilot X are the same: 39 mm diameter titanium case, Caliber 400 manufacture caliber (5-day power reserve), transparent case back and water resistance to 100 meters.
Price: €4,400 (compared to €4,200 for the other ProPilot X)
