Exports of watches continue to increase in April

In April, watch exports increased by 6.8% to almost 2.1 billion francs, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) reported on Thursday. Over the first four months of the year, the increase was 10.5%.

Watch exports have shown constant growth since the start of the year. During the month of April, the positive trend was driven by deliveries to China and by those of precious metal and bimetallic watches.

In total, nearly 1.3 million timepieces were exported in April, details a press release. In terms of volumes, the Other Materials category made the strongest progress (+89.9%) with 185,000 more units in one month. In francs, bimetallic watches (+11.7%) and those in precious metals (+6.8%) contributed significantly to growth, specifies the FH.

On the map, the United States is still in first place, although down 4.9% to 307 million. On the other hand, China doubled its sales with 107.8% more, or 201.6 million.

In Europe, France and the United Kingdom posted an increase of 18.9% and 9.8% respectively.
