Code41 has just launched the DAY41, our opinion on this watch which will make people talk… like all Code41 launches.
Code41: co-creation at the heart of the brand’s success.
Code41 is unquestionably one of the most successful recent watch brands in terms of sales, thanks to a very large community of fans. The construction of this important community was done through incisive communication but above all thanks to a simple idea: the “co-creation” of models.
For each model, Code41 defines the spirit, the design and the price level, but it is the fans of the brand who vote online to define the finishes, the materials, the color of the bracelets, etc… This allows watch fans to participate for about a year in the different stages of the creation of a timepiece and at each stage, they become a little more attached to the new model.
And it works: the pre-order day is always an event! The launch in 2019 of their previous model, the X41 which we were telling you about on MBA, came close to the 3 million euros pre-orders exceeded in a few days! Many young brands would dream of such success!
Day41: a more refined mechanical watch, for men and women.
With DAY41we find the raw, machined and mechanical design all in transparency which made the success of the X41 before it, but the brand has injected more elegance and refinement to attract a wider clientele: men but also women. At the start of the project, Code41 wanted to create a automatic watch for women but the result of the various votes is ultimately a non-gendered watch that will appeal to both sexes. 7858 people participated in the co-creation of this model by voting online for finishes or materials offered by the brand.
The watch keeps a good thickness of 10.5mm but is now available in caliber 37mm or 40mm, perfect for men with small wrists (like me !). I really like my Anomaly-01 but it’s a bit wide for me.
This short video will allow you to see the design and the game of transparency of this skeleton watch:
A Swiss movement, design and assembly
Code41 having made the buzz a few years ago about the validity of the Swiss-Made label in the past, watch lovers will be curious whether or not the DAY41 could obtain this much-maligned Swiss-Made label. Well the answer is… Yes !
The Swiss-Made label requires that at least 60% of the value of a model comes from Switzerland, that its movement is Swiss and that it is cased in Switzerland. Well this is the case for the brand new DAY41 which has a Swiss STP6-15 movement.
Here is our technical analysis on this watch:
Technical data on the DAY41:
– the case is 316L stainless steel (high quality)
– scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on the front and back + anti-reflective treatment
– luminova on hands and indexes
– 10 ATM water resistance with individual test under pressurized bell
– weight: 75g
– diameter: 37 or 40mm
– thickness 10.5mm
Technical data on the STP6-15 movement:
– 26 jewels
– 28800 vibrations per hour, 4Hz
– Power reserve of 44 hours
– Stop seconds device present
– Incabloc shock absorber
– bidirectional automatic winding by oscillating weight
– hardened and rolled steel pivot
– 5 position adjustment
Eco-responsible wristbands:
The brand offers three eco-responsible braceletsone in recycled leatherone in linen and one in recycled paper. They are all fitted with a 3-blade folding clasp with pushers. There is very little talk of eco-responsibility in the watchmaking world (which remains a low-polluting industry) but the reflection on bracelets is indeed worth asking. It’s a first step.
Pre-orders open this January 29 with numbered models
Offering pre-orders allows a brand not to overstock and to better negotiate its prices with its suppliers. This is now standard practice in the world of watchmaking.
Every Code41 pre-order has been an event, it should be once again. To this end, the brand offers 2 advantages to people who pre-order from January 29 to February 28, 2020 :
– a price from 1245€,
– A model numbered “collector”. Models for future productions will not.
The delivery of these first pre-orders will take place in September/October 2020.
To pre-order or find out more, go to the brand’s website here: Day41.
