After presenting its Victorinox Swiss Army to us at the start of the year, the House known for its famous Swiss knives returns today to unveil a new collection of watches called Victorinox Air Pro !
Above all designed for aviators and travelers who like to venture into unknown lands, this new line of all-terrain timepieces frankly does not lack in assets. Here, Swiss Made Watch Magazine reveals everything you need to know about these new products.
The Victorinox Air Pro collection is based around 4 recognizable watches thanks to a unique configuration…
Note that each model is enhanced with colorful details. The touches of orange, yellow and red brilliantly accentuate the racy character of the variations.
These pieces give pride of place to characteristic style from Maison Victorinox which is immediately recognizable by the shape of the case and in particular the faceted horns. A distinctive design element found on many of the brand's watches.
Their housing 43mm diameter was fashioned from stainless steel and has a thickness of 13 millimeters. He is wearing a fixed external bezel on which we find a 60-minute graduation which acts as a timer and allows increased readability.
The Victorinox Air Pro are all equipped with a screwed and transparent case back guaranteeing waterproof up to 200 meters depth (i.e. 20 atmospheres or 660 feet). They all benefit from a ISO certification attesting to their water and shock resistance. Understand that each of these four watches can accompany you, without blinking, in all situations of life, whether you are in the air or even underwater!
But, the Victorinox Air Pro are not only resistant to being resistant… They also have a high-end level of finishing which we find first and foremost on their dial. This presents a azure finish and offers a three-dimensional surface which appears as sculpted. The information present on it is multiple: 24-hour graduation, date window, “Swiss Air Force” mention… On the periphery of it, we even find a bezel graduated in 24 increments accompanied by the names of the major cities of the world!
In addition to being nicely crafted, the indexes and hands of the models have been covered with material Super-LumiNova. An attention which allows them to light up green when you are in the dark or in a dimly lit environment. Special mention for the GMT hand which, due to its skeletonized and colorful appearance, manages to be discreet but still very readable...
As we mentioned above, the Victorinox Air Pro is available in four different versions and, depending on their color, the surface of the cases and bezels may have a different finish! Thus, we find a delicate brushed surface on the gray parts and one sandblasted finish on the black parts. They give the models a subtle appearance which is characterized by a soft touch and a sustained shine.
In order to differentiate the two crowns present on these models, Victorinox had the idea of engraving the brand logo on the bottom one and inscribing, in color, the words “GMT” on the top one. This distinction may seem like just an aesthetic detail, but it actually helps avoid confusion when setting the watch. Which is a real plus!
The new Victorinox Air Pro all come with a real rubber strap striated whose color matches the hue of the dials or colored accents. Except for reference 242004 which is provided with a stainless steel bracelet brushed in its own style.
A single or double folding clasp respectively secures each of these rubber and steel bracelets. It is made from the same material as the case and is engraved with the brand's logo in the shape of a shield
For its new Air Pro, Victorinox has selected a Swiss automatic movement high quality: the Sellita SW330-2. This caliber operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (i.e. 4 Hz), offers a nice 56 hour power reserve and is equipped with 25 rubies. Its technical characteristics are interesting but it is GMT complication which makes all the difference...
Thanks to their configuration including a GMT hand and an internal bezel graduated over 24 hours which can be controlled from the crown located at 2 o'clock on the case, the Victorinox Air Pro allows you to follow 3 different time zones ! A feature that will appeal to both pilots and globetrotters looking for a tool that is as beautiful as it is functional.
And, icing on the cake, thanks to glazed box bottom which equips the models, it is even possible to admire this proudly Swiss Made automatic movement, simply by turning the watch over.
These new Victorinox Air Pros are positioned as very high-end pieces. They highlight a complication that is truly useful to all those who are used to traveling between different areas of the world. If you are looking for a GMT watch that is also an automatic watch, one of these four references could well present itself as a model of choice!
