We're talking G-Shock. So we hit it (reasonably). Drop test at 1.2 m on smooth concrete slab — 5 drops per model, 10/13/2025, Compans zone. Zero dysfunction. Micro-marks visible on bezel of the GA-2100 (matte black resin); the DW-5600 copes better visually, its more rounded bezel “bounces back”.
Mineral glass for both. Light scratches after controlled rubbing against a plastered wall (20 cm, 3 passes, 10/12/2025). Nothing dramatic. It's difficult to polish: long live protection if you're the type to hit. Straps: standard resin, sturdy fittings; wide center distance compatibility, RAS in three years of use.
Classic trap: the gray market. If you chase the economy at all costs, you open the door to counterfeits. Read and keep: recognizing a real G-Shock with concrete proof. That's non-negotiable.
The carbon cage of the GA-2100 is not an empty argument. It stiffens the architecture and allows the contained thickness. My manual twists (approximate stress 3–4 Nm, home bench, 10/14/2025) show less lateral bending than a conventional resin. It doesn't feel much on the wrist, but that explains the finesse. And therefore the comfort under the sleeve.
Do. The GA-2100 rides on aesthetics; the DW-5600 lives up to the legend. In terms of perceived value and limited series, bet instead on desirable variations (shades, collabs). I detail cases in G-Shocks that are really increasing in value — no promises, trends.
Price levels observed in Toulouse (October 12–14, 2025): classic GA-2100 often between €99 and €129; DW-5600E often between €59 and €99. Yes, things are moving in promotion. And yes, collaborations are exploding. That's a bad idea if you're looking for a tool that lasts: don't pay twice the price for one color.

The DW-5600 is the historic silhouette (heir to the DW-5000). It tells the story of G-Shock culture. The GA-2100 tells the story of 2019 and beyond: modernity, textured dials, urban fashion. Two stories, two clienteles… which intersect. So: no bad choice, just a different priority.
My advice: try both on the same day, five minutes each, fitted to your bracelet hole. The brain cuts quickly. Note how the watch slides under the sleeve, and whether the lighting suits you in the store. To understand the overall context, history and families, reread history and key points for purchasing G-Shock — and come back with a firm budget.
Authenticity: favor official resellers or controlled marketplaces. Check the stamped warranty card, the exact reference on the label (GA-2100-xx, DW-5600-xx), the protective film on the bottom. If the price is “too good”… be wary. In short, be cool in the act of purchasing, warm on the wrist afterwards.
Urban use + shirt, style sensitivity, want a watch that “speaks” without shouting? GA-2100. Basic sports use, need a chrono readable in half a second, love of clear numbers? DW-5600. You get the idea.
