Google isn't done with the Pixel Watch 2. Just one day after officially revealing the design of the Pixel Watch 2, Google is once again giving us a glimpse of the upcoming smartwatch. This latest video also brings some new details.
In the new video posted on the Made by Google YouTube channel, we have the best preview of the Pixel Watch 2. The video shows the device from different angles, allowing us to see both the front and back of the smartwatch.
Like in yesterday's video, the design is very similar to the original and is not radically different from before. We still find its rounded curved screen in Corning Gorilla Glass and a familiar user interface, the rotating crown and the button located next to the crown from the previous generation have been retained. However, not everything is the same.
Owners of the original Pixel Watch are hoping the crown has been improved, as many complained that the original crown was loose and the haptics weren't perfect.
The watch strap is identical to that of the first version, in the Matte Black color. The button on the side is also identical to the one on the Pixel Watch, located just above the crown. Although Google hasn't confirmed whether the watch has a Snapdragon processor as rumored, a look at its back reveals some interesting information.
When you take a quick look, you see a ring of features etched into the metal. One of these characteristics appears to be IP68 protection rating, which means it can be submerged in fresh water for 30 minutes at a maximum depth of 16 meters. This is a surprise since the first watch did not have IP certification; however, it was rated safe at a depth of 54 meters, which the Pixel Watch 2 also claims it can reach.
It's a little hard to see, but we also see confirmation of water resistance (50m), an Electrodermal Activity (EDA) sensor, a heart rate sensor, a sleep tracking and an oxygen saturation (SpO2) sensor. Additionally, we have a good view of the sensors, which are arranged in a 3x3 pattern.
Google's Pixel 8 event is scheduled for October 4 and the Pixel Watch 2 will launch alongside the smartphone. As the video indicates in the tiny text near the bottom, pre-orders will launch the same day as the event.
