This year, Frederique Constant famous sound 35th anniversary. What could be better than a first participation in Watches & Wonders to mark the occasion? Although a few variations of existing models have been unveiled, the sumptuous Classic Tourbillon Manufacture unveiled for the occasion stole the show. It is also one of our favorites of the show.
Remember it 2008the brand unveiled a first in-house tourbillon which turned a lot of heads. For good reason, it was the cheapest in its category, with a level of finish that had nothing to envy to its much more expensive competitors. For this very special year, the brand is rethinking one of its “icons” in an incredible version limited to 150 copies.
The proportions of the case have been reduced, which corresponds much better to the DNA of the piece. A “dress watch” as horological and better balanced in 39mm that in 42mm, we don’t teach you anything. We also particularly appreciate the care given to the box finisha mirror polish enhancing the elegance of this new creation.
On the dial side, no false note either. Frederique Constant chooses to hand polish needles while the hour markers are diamond cut. The effort is to be welcomed. These litter a charcoal gray color background, blending perfectly with rose gold. But the heart of the show is at 6 o’clock: a circular opening reveals the tourbillon cage for a live show, all in depth.
Let’s take a closer look at this movement. If Frédérique Constant is only 35 years old, let’s not forget that she has already developed almost 30 in-house movements. In such a short time, it’s not common at all. This could even make many houses whose age is nil more important blush. We are dealing here with the caliber FC-980 and his 188 components, 81 of which make up the tourbillon carriage engraved with the number of each example. More technically, it oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, offers 38 hours of power reserve and adorns itself with a escape wheel with an anchor in silicon.
