Vulcain switches to chronos, with the Chronograph 1970’s

We don’t stop Vulcan ! The resurrected Swiss brand in collaboration with Guillaume Laidet continues its momentum and unveils a third model. After the mythical Cricket and the very seductive Skindiver Nautique, here is the Chronograph 1970’s.

A born chronograph

To find the inspiration for this piece, Guillaume Laidet and his teams immersed themselves in the archives of Vulcain, and stopped at the chapter ” 1970s“. There, they found magnificent times, sporty and elegant, who were just waiting for a little flick to return to the front of the stage. Thus was born the Vulcain Chronograph 1970’s, like a reinterpretation of the Vulcain chronographs of the seventies, and their inimitable charm.

A resolutely vintage style

With the Vulcain Chronograph 1970’s, we therefore find everything that makes the charm of the chronos of this period: contained dimensionsbi-compax configuration at 2 counters, and no external bezel. The “step case” of 38mm in diameter and 12.4mm thick will delight lovers of the chronos of yesteryear. The pushers and the crown are reduced in size, which lightens the whole. The back of the box reads Vulcan’s new slogan ” sold the world since 1858“, as if to recall the full legitimacy of this brand, whose heritage spans over 160 years. Finally, the Vulcain Chronograph 1970’s is available in 5 colors : black, salmon (limited to 50 copies), panda, inverted panda (limited to 100 copies), and finally blue with silver counters.

A modern Swiss movement

But if the aesthetic presentation has the charm of the old, the mechanics are resolutely modern. The Vulcain Chronograph 1970’s is driven by a Swiss movement with manual winding : THE SW510 M BH of Sellita. A well-known caliber, which revolves around 23 jewels, is clocked at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a very comfortable power reserve of 63 hours. With a price starting at €2,500, this new Vulcain Chronograph 1970’S ranks very well vis-à-vis the competition. A smart choice that will not steal its success.
