Under Watch: Panerai Radiomir Officine PAM01385

Home Panerai has presented its new Radiomir Officine PAM01385. A watch that celebrates the anniversary of the prototype Radiomir with a limited edition that returns to its roots. A new model with the classic and easily recognizable lines of the Radiomir collection. The Radiomir model was manufactured strictly for the army and was used by the Miltar Navy until the early 1970s. It is a design that was kept under military secrecy for years. It will be manufactured in a limited edition of 300 units and can only be purchased in e-commerce from October 24, 2023.

For more than a century, the legacy of the Panerai family has been linked to precision instruments manufactured to accompany the Italian army in its exploits. Guido Panerai’s Radiomir – a radium-based luminescent substance perceptible in the dark – was commissioned by the Royal Italian Navy whose patent dates back to 1916. Officine Panerai watches began to be marketed in 1992 with the launch of three collections with ten limited edition references: the 44 mm Luminor and Luminor Marina watches and the 42 mm Mare Nostrum chronograph, which were presented on September 10, 1993 at the La Spezia military base and in the presence of Duke Amedeo D’Aosta, son of Sir Aimone di Savoia, then the highest representative of the diving unit. The Radiomir model was finally made public in 1997, when the Vendome Group – today the Richemont Group – acquired Panerai and presented a first special Vendome edition of sixty pieces: the PAM 21 model in a platinum version.
