Digital watches: the unbeatable value for money

The timeless Casio F91W

I have been wearing a Casio F91W for years. For less than 30 €, it is impossible to find better. She survived showers, shocks, and continues to work perfectly. Its timeless design still attracts looks and compliments.

Once, I left it in the rain for hours. By recovering her, she walked as if nothing had happened. For this price, it is simply stunning.

Entry-level g-shocks

If you have 80-90 € to invest, basic G-Shocks are indestructible. Mine saved me during a hike under waded water – not a drop has penetrated the case.

Be careful all the same: they are imposing. If you have a small wrist, try it before buying.

Analog watches: style without breaking the bank

Quartz classics

For the office or outings, nothing beats a good needle watch. Timex and Swatch offer excellent models under 100 €.

I found that black or blue dials work with almost all outfits. Go simple to maximize versatility.

Vintage’s strength return

The vintage trend exploded in 2025. I offered a vintage casio (around 60-70 €) to a loved one who loves it for its retro look and reliability.

These watches combine charm of yesteryear and modern technology. Perfect for standing out effortlessly.

Sports watches: robustness above all

Really waterproof or just resistant?

Beware of misleading labels. A watch “30m water resistant” barely supports splashes. To swim, look for at least 100m.

I tested a waterproof watch at 50 € by deliberately plunging it into the water for 30 minutes. She survived, but I would not take this risk with all the watches in this range.

Field watches

Military models are coming back in force this year. The resin or stainless steel boxes collect daily shocks.

My preference goes to ultra-legible, essential dials when you are in motion.

Cheap connected watches: compromise

Smartwatches at less than 100 € are multiplying. They offer basic functions: PAS monitoring, heart rate and notifications.

My experience? Their battery and durability are generally disappointing compared to conventional watches. Consider them as gadgets with a limited lifespan, not as an investment.

Practical advice that I would have liked to know earlier

The bracelets make the difference

At this price, opt for silicone. The cheap leather bracelets are dilapidated in a few months. Metal bracelets can cause allergic reactions – I always pay attention to it.

Easy maintenance

Replace a battery costs € 5-10 and takes five minutes. I did it myself on my Casio without any difficulty. Don’t be afraid to try!

Realistic lifespan

Let’s be honest: a watch for less than 100 € will generally last between 2 and 5 years. Casio and Timex often last longer, unknown marks rarely.

My final verdict

For a first purchase, go simple and reliable. The Casio F91W remains unbeatable to start.

If you are athletic, save a little more for an entry-level G-Shock-you will thank me during your next outdoor adventure.

For the office, a simple analog watch will do the trick. Think of the main use: daily, sport, or outings? Even with 100 € max, you can find a watch that will accompany you faithfully for several years.
