In 2018, G-Shock launched the “Dream Project”, a series of 35 solid gold G-Shock watches with a suggested price of around $70,000 for the brand’s 35th anniversary. But for its 40th anniversary, the brand is presenting this year the G-Shock G-D001 (from the “Dream Project #2) which far exceeds this amount, a one-of-a-kind G-Shock due to its 18-carat yellow gold case designed using artificial intelligence !
No less than 40 years of G-Shock data were fed to a custom artificial intelligence to generate a fully optimized case, including reduced weight and better shock absorption. Skeletonized bracelet, case and dial for this unique watch sold by the Philipps auction house. Estimated between $70,000 and $140,000, The G-Shock G-D001 has become the world’s most expensive G-Shock with a final hammer price of $400,050 !
The most expensive G-Shock in the world comes in a tower-shaped box, partially openwork and decorated with the numbers of past and present G-Shock watches. A light integrated into the box provides indirect lighting, making this watch box a true work of art.
Note that the profits from this sale are donated to The Nature Conservancy, an association aiming to reverse climate change and the loss of biodiversity.
