Why this deal is worth it now
The Apple Watch SE 3 is the entry-level Apple… but with the engine of the big ones. It features the S10 chip, the same as the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3, with an ultra-fluid interface, double tap gestures, and an always-on display. At this price, not looking at it closely is a mistake.
The difference with the Apple price is modest on paper (€20, that doesn’t seem crazy). But on a recently launched product, already seeing the price drop below the official one is clearly a sign that it’s the right time to jump on it. Especially if you were already aiming for this model and were waiting for “a little promotion to decide”.
For whom does this offer really make sense? For someone who is already on an iPhone, who wants to track their health, their sleep, their sports sessions, take advantage of Apple Pay, notifications, calls on the wrist… without spending €400–900 for a Series 11 or an Ultra. Basically, if you want the modern Apple Watch experience, without the “geek cardio” options like ECG and SpO2, the SE 3 does the job.
Frankly, if you come from a basic bracelet or an old Apple Watch that’s starting to fail, you’ll feel the difference: more responsiveness, more comfort, perfect integration with your iPhone. And there, with a few euros less to spend, the hesitation becomes mainly psychological.
What the Apple Watch SE 3 offers on a daily basis
On the wrist, the Apple Watch SE 3 remains faithful to the Apple design: compact 40 mm case, very versatile Starlight color, Retina screen readable even in broad daylight. The big new thing is the always-on screen: you take a look, you see the time and your information without raising your arm or tapping. It seems like a small thing, but on a daily basis, you don’t want to go back.
On the health side, it monitors your heart rate, your sleep, your wrist temperature, and can give you useful signals: disturbed sleep, possible nighttime breathing problems, more frequent cycles for women, etc. You don’t have the very advanced functions of the Ultra models, but to keep a serious eye on your shape, it’s more than enough.
For sport, you find the great classics: running, walking, cycling, swimming, fitness, HIIT, and a bunch of training profiles. You start your session with a few taps, you track your heart rate zones, your pace, your distance, your calories. You’re not buying a hardcore triathlete’s watch, but for 2 to 5 sessions per week, it’s completely suitable.
In terms of autonomy, we stick to the Apple standard: around a full day with the screen always on. You charge it every evening, or every other day if you play with the settings and economy mode. The good news is the faster charging: a quarter of an hour on the charger before leaving and you get back several hours of margin. So, it’s not a Garmin that lasts a week, but it’s not the same use either.
And then there’s everything that makes an Apple Watch… an Apple Watch: clean and readable notifications, quick responses to messages, calls on the wrist, Siri directly on the watch (without waiting for the iPhone), Apple Pay at checkout, music control, and now gestures like the double tap or flick of the wrist to validate or reject without touching the screen. It seems gimmicky, but on the bus or with your hands full, you quickly see the point.
Basically, you put a real extension of your iPhone on your wrist, not just a sad step counter.
If you were already hesitant about the Apple Watch SE 3, this drop to €249.00 is clearly the signal to take seriously. The promo may not last forever, and the model is new enough to not be afraid of buying “already outdated”. Did you want a good excuse to get started? There it is.
