The 316L stainless steel case (42 mm in diameter) features a cushion shape, very fashionable in the 70’s. Mostly polished, except on the edges with a brushed finish, it is surmounted by a unidirectional rotating bezel in polished blue ceramic. By contrast, the white 60-minute scale, complete with a reference triangle covered in white luminescent material, ensures optimal visibility of the dive and decompression times. For good handling, including with gloves, it is notched with 120 clicks, a detail that differentiates high-end diving watches.
Protected by a curved double-sided sapphire crystal, the dial reveals a matt background subtly gradated from the outside to the center, starting from a deep black to gradually arrive at a navy blue matching the tint of the bezel. In order to ensure optimal visibility, essential for diving, it houses oversized hands and indexes, covered with luminescent material emitting in the blue for excellent readability in the dark. Surrounded by a clearly graduated peripheral timer and equipped with a double black day/date window on a white background to maximize readability, the whole is clearly arranged by an intersection of fine white perpendicular lines. Bringing it all to life, a central second hand allows you to check, at a glance, that the watch is working properly.
While reminiscent of the aesthetics of the seventies, this cutting-edge ally nevertheless remains faithful to the Newport DNA through certain details such as the central attachments of the bracelet, the porthole-style bezel or the marine wheel stamped on the crown.
