Present in Geneva a few weeks ago in Geneva in parallel with Watches & Wonders as part of the Time to Watches trade show, Reservoir spoils us with a whole new line. Alongside the Airflight, this new trio completes the young brand’s aviation offer with, as always, a strong design and a neat finish. Focus on this news Black Sparrow Pilot and on his three variations.
Reservoir celebrates its eighth candle this year. In less than a decade, the brand has managed to make a place for itself in the watchmaking landscape, thanks to a unique signature. A singular time display through a retrograde minute hand and one jumping hour. Beyond an atypical reading of time, this allows the brand to reinforce its DNA and its design inspired by various machines (cars, navy and aviation). Our novelty of the day is in the last category, alongside the Airflight, already inspired by cockpit instruments. The Black Sparrow loses the power reserve indicator, for a more streamlined dial, but is adorned with a unique housing construction. Without forgetting that it pays tribute to a hero of the First World War: Eugene Bullardone of the first African-American combat pilots in history.
On the mechanical side, we find a movement that we keep talking about at the moment. A new and very serious alternative to the ETA 2824 and the Sellita SW-200: the caliber G100 produced by La Joux-Perret. But Reservoir has to go further and embellish this engine with a patented modulemade up of 113 pieces, allowing the brand to offer its unique display with a 56 hour battery lifeagainst only 37 hours when it fitted an ETA base.
Still in stainless steel, here you will have the choice between two case finishes, satin or brushed with black PVD coating. In both cases, a black dial is available, for the satin steel version, then a sand colored dial is also offered. The watches display a logical diameter of 42mm and are distinguished by their horns seeming to be attached to the case by bolts. These are complemented by a fluted bezel fixed and an imposing onion crown, connecting these creations to the world of aviation. Available for pre-order, you will need to count 3,800€ and wait until the end of the year to receive your instrument.
