Longines Ultra-Chron Carbon: high frequency and carbon

Rewrite this title Longines Ultra-Chron Carbon: high frequency and carbon

The watchmaking house Longines continues to dazzle with the launch of its all-new Ultra-Chron Carbona watch that embodies both the heritage of high frequency and innovative materials. This daring piece revisits the iconic Ultra-Chron from 1968 while integrating the latest technological advances.

A carbon case: a first for Longines

L’Ultra-Chron Carbon marks an important milestone for Longines, introducing for the first time a case made from carbon. This material, prized for its robustness and lightness, is commonly used in cutting-edge fields such as aeronautics. This box of 43mmwith its iconic cushion shape, is created from unidirectional carbon fibers and epoxy resin, pressed at high temperature and cold cut. This unique method gives each watch a distinct pattern, making each piece a work of art.

Despite its imposing appearance, the watch is surprisingly light with a total weight of 80 gramsbracelet included. It guarantees watertightness up to 30 bars (300 meters)making this watch as suitable for water sports as it is for everyday adventures.

Unrivaled high-frequency mechanics

At the heart of the Ultra-Chron Carbon beats the exclusive caliber L.836.6 by Longines, a self-winding mechanical movement oscillating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz). This high frequency offers increased precision in the face of shocks and position variations. Equipped with a silicon hairspring, the movement also guarantees exceptional resistance to magnetic fields, up to 10 times higher than ISO 764.

The watch, as a whole, is chronometer certified by TIMELABan independent laboratory based in Geneva, according to the rigorous standards of the standard ISO 3159. This certification ensures optimal precision performance, validated through tests in extreme temperature and position conditions.

A sober and efficient design

The sandblasted anthracite dial of the Ultra-Chron Carbon displays perfect readability thanks to its silver applied indexes and its gray PVD hands, all coated with Super-LumiNova with bluish luminescence. The fixed titanium bezel, featuring an engraved aluminum insert, adds a touch of modernity to this timeless design.

To complete the look, the watch is accompanied by a black technical fabric strap, enhanced with a titanium pin buckle. The set is presented in a special black box, highlighting the unique and prestigious character of this piece.

A heritage rich in high frequency

For more than a century, Longines has been a pioneer in the field of high-frequency watches. Of the 1910the brand filed a patent for chronographs capable of measuring time 1/10th of a secondthen at 1/100th of a second in 1916. 1968the introduction of the first Ultra-Chron Diver marks a revolution in diving watchmaking, combining precision and robustness.

With the Ultra-Chron Carbon, Longines perpetuates this heritage by combining tradition and innovation. This model embodies the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of precision and offering watches adapted to modern demands.
