Far from the big popular brands present at Watches & Wonders, we are now interested in a more confidential house, but whose creations amaze us at each outing. Four years after 19.01, Ming evolves this series and unveils the 29.01always in Worldtimer.
You will recognize Ming’s signature here at first glance. We keep the atypical shape and the neat finish of the case, characterized by its wide, hollowed and curved horns, offering a remarkable presence on the wrist. Ming chose a grade 5 titanium case, bringing more lightness to the first piece of this new series. Associated with standard proportions, 40mm in diameter for 11.9mm thick, the case of this 29.01 will be a pleasant and balanced companion that will adapt to (almost) all wrists.
Another important element of Ming aesthetics: the dial. And if you love the Malaysian indie brand as much as we do, you’ll be hard pressed to be disappointed here. Inwards, the dial supports the sumptuous duo of sapphire hands. The latter is completed by a large blue and black gradient disc graduated over 24 hours. It also displays the 24 cities needed for the Worldtimer function. Unsurprisingly, we find the HyCeram Super-LumiNova X1 ceramicanother recognizable feature of Ming creations, offering a real spectacle and a perfect readability in the shadow.
All powered by caliber ASE 222a magnificent micro-rotor movement co-designed by the famous Swiss engine manufacturer Schwarz-Etienne, especially for Ming Thein. Equipped with the precious hours, minutes and Worldtimer functions, you will be able to observe it in detail through a largely open back. And there is plenty to feast your eyes on, thanks in particular to its skeletonized barrel, its plates and bridges coated with DLC and its diamond-cut chamfering.
