Today friends I’m talking to you about a brand that is making a comeback, Hanhart 1882. This original watchmaking house Swiss-German was founded at the end of the 19th century by Johann A. Hanhart. It is in Gütenbach that the brand designs and manufactures mechanical watches inspired by legendary pilot’s stopwatches.
In 2018, Hanhart found the Pioneer One, always faithful to the spirit of pilot’s watches with only date and time functions. Today, Hanhart has just unveiled a limited edition of its Pioneer Flieger One with a magnificent midnight blue dial: The new Pioneer Flieger One NightBlue Limited Edition.
The basic design of the new Pioneer Flieger One NightBlue is based on history Flieger Chronograph 417. By reducing it to a three-hand watch, the unique charm of the 1950s is brought to life in a modern way. Unlike the Pioneer One model, the watch does not have a date window. Additionally, the historic logo is used on the simple midnight blue dial.
The design of the new Hanhart Pioneer Flieger One NightBlue
This limited edition has a 42mm diameter stainless steel case and 12mm thick with a coating black PVD which goes wonderfully with the NightBlue dial. We find the emblematic fluted bezel of the brand. This last one is bidirectional and has a small red marker. The relatively imposing crown is adorned with the “H” of the mark.
For the dial, it remains simple but effective and of a very deep blue. We find indexes covered with Super LumiNova® for an optimal reading of the hours and also a graduated railroad on 60.
The caseback is engraved and numbered from 001 to 150 since the watch is only available in 150 pieces, of which 8 dedicated to the French market.
The movement of the watch
Regarding the caliber, Hanhart opted for a safe bet, a SW200 produced by the famous Swiss movement manufacturer: Sellita. The movement is relatively reliable and precise. It is equipped with a Stop seconds system and offers 38 hours of power reserve to the watch, which is still nice.
The watch is 10 ATM water resistant and it comes with a bracelet in reversed leather (suede) dark blue with some red stitching. I think the dial/bracelet combo is just perfect.
