I really appreciated that the founders of Eska, Sinicha Knezevic and Christophe Chevreton, took into account the remarks of customers who pointed out that the price of the initial model could be considered high given the use of a Seiko NH38 movement. From now on, the different variations of the Amphibian 250 are animated by a Sellita SW200 caliber. It is not that this movement has performance much higher than those of the Seiko caliber but it brings a reassuring dimension to the attention of customers linked to the fact that it is a Swiss caliber. The quality of a watch is not only judged from its movement and the dressing also has a lot. However, the psychological aspect linked to the origin of the caliber remains a crucial point. In short, from a commercial point of view, this change was welcome in order to reach a clientele going beyond happy people to contribute to the boosting of the brand by acquiring the first model.
The latest version of the Amphibian 250 is the Green Turtle version. I appreciate this watch because it takes advantage of the smoked green dial which goes ideally with the telescope and the colors of the luminescent material present on the indexes and needles. This limited edition of 136 pieces (reference to the number of brasses corresponding to the seal of 250 meters) seems similar to the previous versions if not the color change. And yet, there is a small subtlety: the sticks between the figures of the telescope have been replaced by small squares as was already the case on the Red Viper. This makes the telescope more airy and more readable. For the rest, the Green Turtle version retains its main characteristics namely a diameter of 40mm, a thickness of 13.5mm, the indexes which give a touch of depth and the 4 cardinal points enlarged and materialized by the numbers 3, 6, 9 and 12.
The movement is obviously not visible since the case has a full background. The only real downside is its short power reserve (38 hours for a frequency of 4Hz) which is far from the standards of recent calibers. On the other hand, the Sellita SW200 caliber offers homogeneous precision performance. The efficiency of the reassembly is quite correct. With a daily port, there is no risk for the watch to stop. Regarding a widespread caliber, it will also be repairable in the long term which is a tranquilizing factor.
The sale price is set at 990 euros (we will notice its psychological amount!). I find this reasonable rate given the general quality of the execution. The smoked green rendering is successful and the fact that the dial darkens when approaching the telescope gives a nice visual effect. For this price, the watch is delivered with a Tropic KFM green bracelet which harmoniously accompanies the watch. A green waterproof transport box is also provided.
As I write these few lines in the middle of August 2025, 3 versions of the Amphibian 250 remain for sale at the same price: Green Turtle, Black Shark and White Shark. I must admit that my heart is leaning towards the Green Turtle due to the use of the very beautiful smoked green dial. This makes the watch a little more refined than the other two. In addition, green has a better faculty than white and especially black to marry other colors. Anyway, there is no bad choice since the 3 versions respect the same quality conditions. But the green turble is still, in my opinion, a notch above because its dial is more subtle and dynamic.
