Health connected watch: hidden advantages and dangers

Connected Health Watch: Unseen Benefits and Risks

The dark side: when tech makes you sick

Anxiety of real -time data

This permanent biometric monitoring often generates a paradoxical effect: increased stress, anxiety and obsession with data, leading to a real “digital hypochondria”.

University study of Copenhagen (July 2020): Researchers have shown that the daily use of these health -related connected objects could generate stress and anxiety. Overload of information, insufficient medical knowledge.

Testimony of a patient: A 70 -year -old patient diagnosed with atrial fibrillation has produced 916 electrocardiograms from her connected watch in one year. With each disturbing notification, she was re -laid a measure.

User testimonies that make you think

Didier, 56 years old: “I bought a Garmin Forerunner 235. I found myself in the emergency for arrhythmia. I removed the watch and, relief, the arrhythmia disappears.”

Anonymous user: “Everything has changed in a few short weeks with increasingly agitated nights and pain in my arm … until it throws me around the neck … I started by removing the cardio option 24/24, to end up wearing my watch that for sports sessions … and that’s where my pains are gone!”

The trap of permanent comparison

The rankings with friends, performance badges, “means” goals … everything pushes to competition. What if your heart rate does not correspond to the “standard”? Panic.

“The more attention is focused on data such as heart rate or tension, the more the brain amplifies warning signals,” according to Joanna Hardis, an American expert.

Underestimated physical risks

Environmental Science & Technology Letters study: Some bracelets contain high quantities of perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHXA), a so -called “eternal” pollutant linked to an increase in cholesterol, cancers and fertility disorders.

The fluoroelastomer, a “elastic” material used in the bracelets, was detected in the Apple Watch, Huawei Watch Fit 3 and Pixel Watch 3.

Sweating facilitates skin absorption. Wearing your watch 24 hours a day multiplies the exhibition.

Bacteriological study Florida Atlantic University: 95% of connected watch bracelets are contaminated by a dangerous bacteria that can cause septicemia or pneumonia. The rubber and plastic bracelets are the worst, those in the healthiest metal (gold, silver).
