Code41’s initial lap impresses with excellence.

OUR Code41 NB24 watch reviewthe first stopwatch made by the Swiss brand founded by Claudio d’Amore. Technical details, photos and opinions on the NB24 in the program of this article.

Code41, after the resounding success of the Day41 and the X41, each pre-order of which exceeded one million euros in sales, is launching its very first timer: the chrono NB24. The chronograph is, without a doubt, one of the most popular complications for lovers of fine watches, but this one has something special.

NB24: a resolutely sporty and technical design

We find in the NB24 watch the characteristic design that made the success of previous Code41 models: a raw design, machined with a sportier touch and a subtle play on the depths. Pretty palette of steel, anthracite and red for a powerful and definitely modern result.

A peripheral oscillating weight on the dial side

There peripheral oscillating mass was one of the keys to the success of the X41, Code41 puts that back on the NB24 timer but this time dial side. In addition to the technical prowess, offered by few accessible brands, this adds to the technical, mechanical rendering of this new watch.

A Swiss movement from the Concepto manufacture

The NB24 embeds a swiss movement from the Concepto factory. For those who do not know Concepto, it is a recognized manufacture, founded in 2006 in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the canton of Neuchatel, and which today has 115 people who master all watchmaking know-how in-house. Swiss. He is happy to see that Code41 has chosen Swiss movements for these last 4 models and does not give in to the trend of Chinese movements. The movement of the NB24 is a 35-jewel movement, with 28,800 vibrations per hour, a 48-hour power reserve (if not worn), tempered and rolled steel pivots (to prevent premature wear). And since we are on small quantities, each movement has been tested in 5 positions (in general, brands only test one part out of fifty and in 2 or 3 positions only).

By the way, note that for a watch to be labeled Swiss Made at least 60% of its value must come from Switzerland, its movement must be Swiss and it must be assembled in Switzerland. The NB24 project greatly exceeds the prerequisites with approximately 90% of value coming from Switzerland.

2 collections: NB24 Ti5 and NB24 AeroCarbon

The NB24 chrono is available in 4 AeroCarbon versions and 4 Titanium grade 5 versions. Technological materials that reflect the strong and technical character of the case and the dial. THE diameter is 42mm and the watches have a nice thickness of 13.7mm. The glasses are sapphire on both sides of the watch for a very good view of both sides of the movement.

NB24 Ti5

The collection NB24 Ti5 has a Grade 5 Titanium dial. Titanium offers the comfortable advantage of being approximately twice as light as steel. Grade 5 titanium is more expensive than grade 2 but offers twice the hardness and finer detail of finishes.

NB24 AeroCarbon

Extremely resistant, the box of the NB24 AeroCarbon is developed in a high density aeronautical carbon. Made in France at the request of CODE41, the blocks are made up of more than 300 layers arranged at 90° to each other and compacted under 10 bars of pressure in an autoclave oven. This process guarantees an exceptional composite 2.5 times stronger in bending than steel. This material had been used on the X41.

The NB24 AeroCarbon Collection

As you see, there are different colors of discs. I find the very successful versions with red discs and with black discs. I’m less of a fan of the green version. There is also a large choice of 20 interchangeable straps. I recommend the versions with black, brown or beige perforated leather strap.
