For forty years, G-Shock has been making durable stopwatches. Today, the brand revisits its iconic pieces. Each is reborn in monochrome, draped in total black. Let’s explore the Remaster Black Series, a limited quartet of models.

In the 1980s, Casio set out to design an indestructible watch. Thus, the Tough Project was born, with a battalion of 200 prototypes subjected to rigorous examination in search of unparalleled robustness.

Fast forward two years of relentless testing and development, 1983 saw the birth of the first G-Shock, the iconic 5000 model, featuring an octagonal shell. This marked the genesis of a line of increasingly shock-resistant timepieces, with distinctive designs included respectfully in this special series.

Remaster Black Series: A tribute to the iconic design of G-Shock

This design acts as a rejuvenated successor to the iconic DW-6600, a premier G-Shock artifact from the nostalgic 90s. Wrapped in a muted obsidian matte architecture, it now sports a nighttime LED glow, where the anniversary crimson emblem subtly emerges. A 24-hour chronometric countdown also adorns its features.

Engaging in the chronicle of this timepiece, it is a rejuvenated interpretation of the Model 110, originally unveiled in 2010. It features a tiered dial, a symphony of analog and digital displays. Along its sides, four textured push buttons are used to activate its various functions.

Drawing on common characteristics, these quartets of timepieces all have a structure forged from black bio-sourced resin, derived from organic resources such as castor oil and corn. Key annals and important model numbers are engraved on their bracelets through a hot stamping process. These new iterations are also recognizable by their stainless steel buckle adorned with an ion-plated gold bracelet.

Each timepiece is equipped with a side button engraved with a star, except for the GA-114RE-1A where the star is engraved directly on the glass.

Culminating in the case back, designed by American artist Eric Haze, a 40 is engraved in tribute to G-Shock’s anniversary.

When it comes to utilities, you can choose from an assortment that includes stopwatches, alarms, calendars, and various countdown modes. These watches also feature superior water resistance up to 200m (20ATM). Regarding endurance, the brand boasts an estimated lifespan of 5 years.

The Remaster Black Series timepieces are revealed in packaging made of recycled materials and vegetable-based ink, molded in the shape of G-Shock’s emblematic G. The brand remains faithful to its efforts to respect the environment.
