Amazfit T-Rex 3: An In-Depth Review

I took a slap.

I first looked at the Amazfit T-Rex 3 as an outdoor watch that was a little too ambitious for its price. The kind of product that promises a lot, which displays a large case, enormous battery life, a very flashy AMOLED screen… and then we say to ourselves: “yes, let’s see it in real life”.

In truth, it actually surprises.

The first thing that stands out is autonomy. I don’t have that annoying feeling of having to think about the charger every other day. Even with health monitoring, sports, sleep and a little GPS, it holds up really well. Not necessarily the 27 days announced if we activate everything, no need to dream, but we remain on a very comfortable autonomy. And that, frankly, changes everything.

The screen is also a real success. Large, bright, readable outdoors. In direct sunlight, you can see the data without squinting like an idiot. For running, walking, rolling or following a session, it’s clean.

Sports-wise, it does the job. Fast GPS, consistent cardio tracking, lots of modes, fairly comprehensive data. I can see it for someone who hikes, works out, bikes, runs, without necessarily wanting to fall into the €800 Garmin gas factory. There, we have a serious, but accessible tool.

Afterwards, everything is not perfect. No speaker, no calls directly from the watch, contactless payment very limited in France, mapping sometimes a little cumbersome to use. And Zepp OS remains less rich than Apple or Samsung.

But in the end, I understand why she is so popular. It gives a simple impression: robust, enduring, readable, efficient. Not perfect. But damn well placed.
