Discover our opinion on the new edition of the X41 of Code41. We tested this Edition 5 of the X41 for you.
The small world of watchmaking panicked when the X41 was launched in March 2019. For the first time, a young brand that had launched at a modest price was going to offer a “haute horlogerie” model around 6000 € thanks to direct sales (absence of intermediary margins (watchmakers, luxury boutiques)) and contained internal margins. Everyone wondered if the success would be there… it was phenomenal! 700 X41s sold in a few days, more than 3 million euros in turnover! And since then, each reissue of the X41 has been sold out in a matter of days.
Our opinion on the X41 Edition 5
We obviously find on this fifth edition of the X41 what made the success of previous editions: a superb design that is both technological and sporty, exceptional transparency thanks to a peripheral oscillating weight rarely offered, a successful play on the thicknesses and the different materials and a swiss movement High quality.
But Code41 has brought some optimizations that make all the difference:
. A grade 5 titanium for titanium models: a material twice as light as steel. Grade 5 replaces grade 2 of the previous edition, its higher price being justified by greater hardness, better scratch resistance and more finesse in the detail of the finishes.
. two new colors for AeroCarbon models. Usually used in aeronautics, Aerocarbon is a very dense technical material which is distinguished by its resistance (2.5x more resistant in bending than steel), its lightness (2x lighter than titanium and 4x more than steel ) and its waterproofness (100M without box).
. a water resistance increased to 10 ATMunlike 3 or 5 ATM for most current mechanical watches.
Precision for purists: the X41 more than meets the criteria of Swiss Made label with more than 90% of its value of Swiss origin (against only 60% necessary to obtain this label).

Another reason for the success of the different editions of the X41 is the personalization that Code41 offers to its buyers.

All interesting, we have a preference for the gray titanium version with perforated leather strapboth sporty and elegant.
Towards the end of the reign of luxury in Haute Horlogerie?
Rolex, Longines and Omega do not really have to worry about the arrival of new players on this market, as their demand is strong and the differences in production capacities and notoriety significant. Nevertheless, we can rejoice that connoisseurs of beautiful mechanics are increasingly tempted by innovative brands such as Code41, Beaubleu or UTINAM.
It’s much more interesting to wear one of these quality creations rather than the last Omega produced in industrial quantities and that everyone has on their wrist.

The price is 5443€ (or 5393 CHF for our Swiss friends).
Be careful, there are only 450 pieces available and given what happened in previous editions, they should leave in just a few days. We will follow this closely!
