A. Lange & Söhne at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2023

A. Lange & Söhne Partakes in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este of 2023

Since 1929, on the shores of Lake Como, one of the most important automotive events in the world takes place every year.

This is the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, an exclusive gathering of rare and historic cars which this year will be held from 19 to 21 May.

Also for this edition of the prestigious event, the german watch brand A. Lange & Söhne will be a partner of the gathering and will offer a Chronograph 1815 to the winner of the “Best of Show” award.

The Concours d’Elegance

This international automobile competition, which takes place every year in Italy, in Cernobbio, represents the meeting point par excellence for enthusiasts of the world of four wheels. Unlike the traditional rallies of the motor sport world, the Concorso d’Eleganza brings together some of the rarest cars in the world that in other contexts it would be practically impossible to see.

The participating vehicles, selected with highly refined and rigorous criteria, will compete in eight different classes and for three days will compete for the attention of the jury and the public. The 2023 edition, which will also take place on the shores of Lake Como, will be organized in collaboration with BMW Group Classic and Grand Hotel Villa d’Este.

Lange & Söhne will also be the backdrop to the elegant lines of the different cars in the race, presenting its own watch collection. Furthermore, a unique piece of the Lange & Söhne Chronograph 1815 will be up for grabs for the owner of the winning car in the BMW Group “Best of Show” category.

The Lange & Söhne Chronograph 1815 Concorso D’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023

This watch represents what I would describe as the “perfect prize” for the lucky winner to claim victory in the “Best of Show” class.

In fact, the Chronograph 1815 encloses everything that we can also find in the cars that will take part in the prestigious event: the sportiness given by the chronograph – a complication par excellence conceived precisely for car races – and on the other hand, extremely elegant lines can be observed on the 39 mm diameter white gold case.

All this is combined with a splendid rose gold dial which creates a perfect contrast with the brown counter of the 30 chronograph minutes, at 3 o’clock, and the brown counter of the seconds positioned at 9 o’clock. The chronograph, equipped with the flyback function, can be activated using the buttons located on the case at 2 and 4 o’clock.

This watch is powered by the in-house caliber L951.5 enclosed in a case thickness of 11 mm. This hand-wound movement features a column wheel and the refined snail that allows the minute counter to perform its flyback function precisely.

On the back of the watch we can instead observe the coat of arms of the competition engraved by hand together with the year of the first Concorso d’Eleganza and 2023. To complete the watch, which will be presented to the winner by the CEO of Lange, Wilhelm Schmid, we find a brown leather strap matching the chronograph counters. We just have to wait for you during this prestigious event where we could talk together about watches and engines in one of the most beautiful places in Italy.
