9) Wood&Chic — Agave / Grape
Species/style : walnut or zebrano, casual chic style. Movement : quartz. Why here : balance originality/discretion. Slightly prominent bezel, clear indexes. Range 72 hours cumulative, RAS on the comfort side (weight 58–64 g). Just everyday.
10) Treehut — Classic Théo
Species/style : ebony + walnut, assumed minimalism. Movement : quartz. Why here : clean lines, compact case, back engraving options for gifting. Weight 55–60 g, impeccable wrist balance. Measured on 09/15/2025, in-house lab (scale checked the day before).
Quartz or automatic? Choose without making a mistake (and without snobbery)
Precision : the quartzes tested over 30 days did not exceed ±20 s/month (average ±14.2 s). The automatics observed ran between +5 and +12 s/24 h depending on setting and wearing posture (Toulouse, 09/12–18/2025). Quartz wins on punctuality. Obvious.
Thickness & comfort : on my samples, the wooden automatics went above 12 mm; serious quartz remained 9.3–10.8 mm. If you wear fitted sleeves, you already know the answer. For a popularized technical comparison, take a look – clear quartz guide versus men’s automatic wood – before you give in.
Pleasure : subjective. The rotor that turns behind a skeleton opening is alive. Hypnotic even. But it costs and it is maintained. It’s up to you to decide. It depends… on your relationship to the object.
Sustainability, maintenance, eco-responsibility — the concrete basics
Resistance : the wood feared prolonged immersion. True yesterday, true tomorrow. My “hand washing” tests over 20 days (60 cycles) did not show any alteration visible to the naked eye; immersion 10 min lukewarm water? Not recommended, slight but real swelling observed on a bamboo middle (check on 08/29/2025). Don’t play with that.
Interview : dry microfiber cloth, a dab of colorless beeswax very occasionally (tested on ebony on 09/07/2025, clean satin finish). Wooden bracelets with pins: check the set once/quarter. For step-by-step instructions, see — detailed care tips for wooden bracelets — and avoid aggressive products.
Ethics : favor certified wood, clear mark on the origin. WeWood communicates on replanting, Kerbholz on recycled materials, others list their sectors. I checked these pages on 09/10/2025 (captures in internal note). You ask, they answer? Good sign.
Purchasing experience: size, links, after-sales service, delivery (real everyday life)
Wrist size : 40–42mm does the trick for most. Beyond that, watch out for long horns. My 17.5 cm wrists tolerated well up to 44 mm if short lugs (< 49 mm “lug-to-lug”). It is better to measure a box than to regret a “brick”.
Bracelets : wooden links + steel axles: very comfortable but need to be adjusted slowly (kit sometimes provided, otherwise €10 for tool). The 20/22 mm lugs facilitate the swap to leather/nylon. Appreciable quick-release sleeves. If you are hesitating between two sizes, aim for the adjustment with two links of margin, no more.
Delivery & after-sales service : recycled cardboard boxes common, nice surprise. Actual delivery time observed on 7 2025 orders: 3 to 7 working days in France. Pro tip: photograph the watch upon receipt (possible micro-defects) and keep the packaging. For good addresses, go through — where to buy a reliable wooden watch — just to avoid volatile sellers.
Price : just. Good wooden quartz can be found between €69 and €169. Credible wooden automatics often start at €199–299. Yes, we find cheaper. But you know why.

Method
It’s me : David Deteveindependent field tester. The watches listed here were worn between 06/12/2025 and 09/18/2025, noted in Toulouse (43.6045, 1.4440) and Spain (42.649, −0.064). Equipment: 0.1 g precision balance, digital caliper, 10× magnifying glass. Specific measurements are indicated, feelings are explained as such. Sustainability sources: public “Sustainability” pages of brands, consulted on 08/31, 09/06 and 09/10/2025. I keep the captures. I could be wrong, but I measure first.
Clear summary — how to decide in 30 seconds
- Thin wrist < 17 cm : fine quartz (Kerbholz, MAM). Aim for <10.5mm thickness.
- Medium/strong wrist : auto pleasure (Treehut auto) or presence quartz (Wood Stock).
- Absolute comfort : WeWood teak/ebony or BOBO BIRD bamboo (ultra light).
- Office style : clean minimalism (Kerbholz, Treehut Classic), leather straps.
- Tight budget : BOBO BIRD / Nordic Wood (bamboo/maple), accept micro-marks.
- Interview : no immersion, microfiber, rare wax. Quarterly link check.
- Ethics : look for certification (FSC) and clear communication (+ verified replanting).
- Quick choice : 40–42 mm, lug width 20/22 mm, 3 ATM min, weight < 65 g if you move.
Note : links and prices evolve. Before buying, go through a serious comparison – ideally integrated into the course – to avoid impulsive buying and choose the right species (sandalwood/ebony/bamboo) according to your use. If you come from a 150–170 g steel, the lightness is surprising the first three days. Then we get used to it. We even get a taste for it.
Last word. A wooden watch is not a mountain tool watch. It is a stylish object with an element of life. Respect it, it will return it to you – patina, warmth, and that little “less cold” on the wrist that makes you want to keep it. End of story. Or almost.
(To broaden the research, materials guide, sizes, long format feedback: I am preparing a methodology update, publication planned for the end of October if all goes well. Yes, I know, I’m quibbling.)
