Who said women were less interested in beautiful mechanics? Certainly not the watch brand Charlie Paris which enhances its collection of automatic watches of a women’s skeleton watch model.
The latest addition to the Initial 36 automatic women’s watch collection, the “Ajourée” watch is a “skeleton” watch. Nothing to do with bones, this term refers to watches whose dial allows the movement of the watch, its mechanics, and its cogs to be seen or completely seen.
A quality movement
It’s always a little frustrating to wear a watch with an automatic movement and not be able to see it if the dial back isn’t transparent or if the dial isn’t openworked at all.
The Charlie Paris Ajourée watch reveals its solid Japanese automatic Citizen Myiota caliber 8N4 movement with a power reserve of 42 hours. It may not seem like much, but you will avoid having to reset your watch if you left it on your bedside table in favor of another watch that better suited your outfit. 42 hours after putting it down, the watch is still working without having to be wound by the action of your movements or winding the crown and without having to reset the time.
Through the dial, you can see the movement come to life, live… The escape wheel turns, the balance spring breathes… A fascinating miniature spectacle on your wrist. All protected by a sapphire crystal that will resist scratches.
The cherry on the cake is that the back of the watch is also transparent, so you can see the movement from both above and below!
The case
36 mm, an ideal size for the female wrist. The case is made of 316L steel plated with rose gold. Its thickness of 11.9 mm does not make the watch invasive despite the fact that the movement is automatic, therefore thicker than a quartz movement.
It is waterproof to 30 meters but depending on the bracelet chosen, we will avoid swimming, right?
The bracelets
Regarding the strap, the watch is offered with a choice of no less than 9 straps.
It is available mounted with a Milanese bracelet in rose gold steel in the color of the case for a pretty harmony or in leather version with 8 colors to choose from: sand, terracotta, ocean, peacock, brown, burgundy, green and ecru. All the previous shades go very well with rose gold, no bad taste on the horizon. My preferences go for peacock and ocean.
Price and availability
The Ajourée is currently available for pre-order on the brand’s website (charlie-paris.com) at the time of writing this article (it is August 5, 2021) and the watch will be available at the end of August.
You can get it for 365 euros instead of 395 euros. For an automatic watch of this quality, assembled in France (near Besançon, the sanctuary of French watchmaking) with a Citizen Miyota automatic movement, it is frankly a very good deal.
