Increasing compared to 2022, the 2023 edition of the Swiss international trade fair will bring together more than 710 exhibitors in Geneva, from June 6 to 9.
As every year at this time, the world of high-precision watchmaking, jewellery, medical and microtechnology meet in Geneva, from June 6 to 9, 2023. More than 710 exhibitors, mainly SMEs, have already already announced their presence at Palexpo. They come from 16 different countries, from Europe, Asia or the United States.
“The number of exhibitors will be up compared to 2022”, announces Alexandre Catton, director of the EPHJ Show. “The good health of the watch and jewelry sector contributes strongly to these encouraging prospects for EPHJ, as does the potential of the medical technology market. Our exhibitors have understood that even if their order books are full, it is important to see their customers in another context, to take care of their professional relationships and to open up to other perspectives.”
Like every year, EPHJ expects to welcome nearly 20,000 professional visitors from 5 continents to discover the know-how and innovations of all these players in high industrial or artisanal precision.
While approximately 90% of exhibitors declare a watchmaking activity and 59% a microtechnology activity, 50% of them display a medtech activity. This confirms the current trend of technological bridges that exist between watchmaking or microtechnology skills and the world of medical devices and instruments.
Innovation being one of the major pillars of the Show, the start-up hub will this year bring together some thirty promising young companies from Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Germany.
Energy efficiency and haptic robotics in debate
The other advantage of the EPHJ Show is the debate, the perspective of current topics and the exchange between experts and personalities from the sector. The famous EPHJ Round Tables will begin on June 6 with a debate around the upturn in the watch market: will it continue in 2023 or are we at the start of a down cycle?
On June 7, two Round Tables will address developments in robotics. In the morning, EPHJ and Stäubli joined forces to present the very promising potential of haptic robotics for watchmaking production. The second Round Table of the day will address the technological alliance serving the medical robotics of tomorrow in the presence, in particular, of Nicolas Demartines, Director General of the CHUV.
On June 8 at 10:00 a.m., the subject of sobriety and energy efficiency of industrial processes will be debated by presenting best practices and sharing experience with experts in the sector and Oliviero Lubatti, director of Romande Energie Services. The afternoon will be devoted to a very promising exchange around the master watchmaker Philippe Dufour who will debate with other personalities the challenges of transmitting watchmaking knowledge.
Expected return of Job Dating Day
As in 2022, a Job Dating session will be organized in partnership with JobWatch on the last day of the Show, Friday June 9, in order to contribute to the interest of the high precision professions and to fight against the shortage of personnel in these sectors. Students, young graduates, technicians looking for a job or other interested people will be able to meet the recruiters of the Show companies which have open positions. They will first be oriented and prepared by JobWatch executives. This theme of recruitment will also be addressed during a Round Table at 10:00 am.
